July 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The King of Grass…

woot!!!!federer whooped nadal’s ass in the wimbledon finals!!score is 7-6,6-4,7-6,2-6,6-2..i admit that the match was really tight..but in the end…the king of grass maintained his composure to hoist the trophy…was damn happy when he whacked a penetrating forehand down the line at championship point #2,fortunately(ah kung la…) nadal managed to return the ball…but too bad..federer was all over the net, smashed the ball and it was game, set and MATCH…

to be honest,i was totally nervous in the 3rd set and the deciding set…federer was down 15-40,on serve, twice in the final set…but he,a great champion, found a way to win the games…he’s just totally great!!

Federer screams after hitting a winner…oh yeah!

Wimbledon Champion 2007!!!

Federer falls to the ground after winning…

wow!!alright Federer…go for the 6th consecutive wimby!!you can do it!!!Federer has 11 grand slams titles…3 shy of the world record of 14,held by ‘Pistol’ Pete…

oh yeah…bjorn borg, another great champ, winning 5 consecutive wimbledon titles, was there to witness FedEx win his 5th consecutive wimbledon title..yeah…champions!

That’s it for wimbledon!!can Federer defend his US Open title??i’m sure he will…come on!!yeah!

The King Of Grass Lives On………………………………………………………….

A frustrating trip to the barber shop…once again…

July 8, 2007 · 8 Comments

Today, after my physics tuition..I decided to have my hair cut..so ,I went to the same barber shop I usually go to..as the matter of fact, the only barber shop I go to..the barber shop is Wee Tak Barber Shop located directly opposite PKM..My hair has been cut by the same barber as long as I could remember:ever since I was in kindergarten or maybe earlier than that..hmmm…the barber is quite experience,in my opinion..He likes trying out new hairstyles with his customers..and the best part of that barber shop is that, the price of getting your hair cut is only RM5..it’s definitely worth it..

***note-I’m not cheap..I’m thrifty..hehe…why go to hair salons? The price of getting your hair cut is like doubled or tripled and on top of that, the quality of the hair cut is pretty much the same,I think..right??

so let me get back to my story…after tuition,it was around 12 noon and I reached the barber shop around 12.05 pm…as I was approaching the barber shop,I saw my mum’s friend,Mr Su /Soo ,the owner of an electrical shop,Panasonic, situated behind The Store..As I was parking my motorbike,to my dismay,he was walking into the barber shop…I was like,”pVk!nn@…got to wait for tat guy..sui la..”

I was only around 4 seconds late..he was faster than me by only 4 seconds…holy crap..was really upset but I thought to myself,”How long can he take to get his hair cut??wouldn’t be long gua…” So,as the barber was cutting his hair,I played with my N95 ,trying to release some of my boredom..so I took some pictures with my N95.These are the photos I took…

doing what he does best…

he prepares for the….shave….

shaving…

it was 12.20pm..

I thought to myself,”oh yeah..he’s done!”..i spoke too soon…I was so like…helpless!

he laid there for 5 minutes while the barber took a break…damn…wasted my 5 minutes waiting…

those who does not know how to read a analog watch,it’s 12.25pm..hehe

why can’t people remove their earwax by themselves?susah la…haih..waited for another 5 minutes…

alright…it was finally my turn!I noticed that the was slowly turning sky grey..and I knew it was goin to rain soon…so I was telling myself,”haih..I should ride faster the next time I come to the barber..otherwise..I’ll be 4 seconds slower and someone who is faster than me will take my place”…bak pepatah, siapa cepat dia dapat..haha..and as the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm..ah gong’s favourite saying during our Kem Kecemerlangan in Nan Hwa..those who went should know why…a hint, the word ‘kudapan’…but for my case…the earlier customer gets his hair cut first…in these times,I really hate the ‘first come first serve basis’…haih…wat to do…

sigh….I’ll show you the before and after photos..

.
before…

don’t know why…but I think I look a little like Tom Welling from the tv series Smallville who plays the role of Clark Kent..mayb it’s the hair la..hehe…not praising myself or what la..keke..

after…Winnie the childish girl said I look better with short hair…ya..i guess so too..

okie..i think tat’s all…until next time..keep smiling and $(r3vv you! …

7 new wonders of the world chosen!

July 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

By BARRY HATTON, Associated Press Writer

LISBON, Portugal – The Great Wall of China, Rome’s Colosseum, India’s Taj Mahal and three architectural marvels from Latin America were among the new seven wonders of the world chosen in a global poll released on Saturday.

Jordan’s Petra was the seventh winner. Peru’s Machu Picchu, Brazil’s Statue of Christ Redeemer and Mexico’s Chichen Itza pyramid also made the cut.

About 100 million votes were cast by the Internet and cellphone text messages, said New7Wonders, the nonprofit organization that conducted the poll.

The seven beat out 14 other nominated landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Easter Island in the Pacific, the Statue of Liberty, the Acropolis, Russia’s Kremlin and Australia’s Sydney Opera House.

The pyramids of Giza, the only surviving structures from the original seven wonders of the ancient world, were assured of retaining their status in addition to the new seven after indignant Egyptian officials said it was a disgrace they had to compete.

The campaign to name new wonders was launched in 1999 by the Swiss adventurer Bernard Weber. Almost 200 nominations came in, and the list was narrowed to the 21 most-voted by the start of 2006. Organizers admit there was no foolproof way to prevent people from voting more than once for their favorite.

A Peruvian in national costume held up Macchu Piccu’s award to the sky and bowed to the crowd with his hands clasped, eliciting one of the biggest cheers from the audience of 50,000 people at a soccer stadium in Portugal’s capital, Lisbon.

Many jeered when the Statue of Liberty was announced as one of the candidates. Portugal was widely opposed to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

Another Swiss adventurer, Bertrand Piccard, pilot of the first hot-air balloon to fly nonstop around the world, announced one of the winners — then launched into an appeal for people to combat climate change and stand up for human rights before being ushered off the stage.

The Colosseum, the Great Wall, Machu Picchu, the Taj Mahal and Petra had been among the leading candidates since January, while the Statue of Christ Redeemer received a surge in votes more recently.

The Statue of Liberty and Australia’s Sydney Opera House were near the bottom of the list from the start.

Also among the losing candidates were Cambodia’s Angkor, Spain’s Alhambra, Turkey’s Hagia Sophia, Japan’s Kiyomizu Temple, Russia’s Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral, Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle, Britain’s Stonehenge and Mali’s Timbuktu.

Weber’s Switzerland-based foundation aims to promote cultural diversity by supporting, preserving and restoring monuments. It relies on private donations and revenue from selling broadcasting rights.

The U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, keeps a list of World Heritage Sites, which now totals 851 monument. But the agency was not involved in Weber’s project.

The traditional seven wonders were concentrated in the Mediterranean and Middle East. That list was derived from lists of marvels compiled by ancient Greek observers, the best known being Antipater of Sidon, a writer in the 2nd century B.C.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Pharos lighthouse off Alexandria have all vanished.

the N95…review part 1…

July 2, 2007 · 1 Comment

well…the N95..it’s what computers have become…

yeah..kinda agree wit tat statement…it’s really cool phone..so for this 1st part of my review,i’ll be focusing on the physical aspects…

N95N95-Slide Downwards

The Nokia N95 is a somewhat large slider form factor handset. It measures 100mm x 53mm x 20mm (3.9″ x 2.1″ x .8″) in size and weighs 121g (4.3oz), which i find alright…maybe a little bit too wide but it is still acceptable as it’s thin..i guess all of you know tat the n95 is a two-way slider phone…simply slide up to reveal the numeric keypad or slide down for the music dedicated buttons…the lighting on the keypad are blue, easy on the eyes…i like..

N95-Slide Upwards

well…for the keypad..it feels a bit weird yet comfortable in a way.. there is a type of feeling onthe keypad, the buttons have these bums on it which makes typing somewhat hardas your fingers can slide off the buttons at times..it takes time adjusting to it…

N95

ok…on the left side of the phone, there are no buttons at all..only the headphone jack, speaker, infrared port and the memory card slot..the phone uses the micro sd card..1gb..on the right side of the phone, there are the volume keys which also act as the zoom buttons , a shortcut button to open gallery and the camera button which has the half press to focus then a full press to take a pic …

N95

on the bottom, you have the charger connector and the miniUSB connector…

alright..the best part of this phone is the CAMERA…a 5 mp camera with Carl Zeiss Optics Tessar and autofocus…and also a secondary QVGA resolution camera ,located in front of the device,on the upper right hand corner…

In my opinion, Nokia did a great job on the physical design of the N95. The keypad design is the only aspect that I can find fault with…all in all,I think it is still quite acceptable…

i’m loving it!

For the next part of my review,i’ll be focusing on the camera…hehe.. till then…
