Australian Open ‘08 continued…

February 21, 2008 · 6 Comments

Continuing from the last post..I didn’t go for the second day but I went for another 4 days..I can’t remember which days I went so,the following details will not be chronological..James Blake….Super flashy player…Even flashier than you see on tv!  His service motion is quite simple but powerful…After he won his match,he was interviewed by ESPN and Seven News…Following that,he kindly gave his fans his signatures…But,the amusing thing is,he has his own marker pen…I saw him taking it out from this pocket and he started signing…He’s one of the few players that actually takes time to sign for everybody…*drum roll………….* Got James Blake’s autograph!hehe…Man,I had to compete with the small ah moh kids…Really funny…  ahhh….Nadia Petrova….Action shot yo!Didn’t get her signature because she lost..haih…sad case… Nadia Petrova receiving treatment…..  David Ferrer…His game style is rather simple yet effective as he is just so consistent…Short backswing and angled serves…  David Ferrer hitting a forehand… David Ferrer serving….Got his autograph too…Just simple ‘D’…  Juan Carlos Ferrero…My favourite player in a ps2 game called Roland Garros…   Ferrero is just so stylish when hitting his groundstrokes…   Juan Carlos Ferrero’s serve…  A picture of Carlos Ferrero before his match with Alu Jones…He was warming up…  Alu Jones…Special thank you to Alu Jones form Australia for throwing me a official player’s towel…hahahah…The towel is worth around AUS $ 50.00….haha  Man…How I love this towel….It was a fresh towel btw…NO smell…syok… Richard Gasquet….Richard is pronounced as Richarr ..He’s from France btw..I guess you follow the pronunciation of a name from where the person is from… gorgeous…That building is called Eureka Tower and not Eureka Skydeck…Made a mistake in one of my posts…  Gasquet played against the tall Spaniard ,Feliciano Lopez…He wasn’t having a good day…He retired in the 3rd set…From what I witnessed,I saw him totally frustrated and he had lost all hope…I guess Gasquet was just too good that night…  Feliciano Lopez looking at his box… Jessica Moore…A Aussie and aged 17?…she played both the girl’s and ladies’ category…She was finalist in the junior and if my memory serves me right, she got into the second round of the ladies’ category…Got her autograph too..  Jelena Jankovic…  Can tell you guys this, she’s pretty ugly…No joke…  despite that, got her signature! hehe…sorry for the blurry pic,my hand wasn’t still when taking the photo…  My new hero,Jo-Wilfred Tsonga…..hehe…believe it or not,I was the only lucky one who got his signature after his warmup session with Juan Monaco…I also got Juan Monaco to sign my book…hehe…Didn’t know that Tsonga could get into the final…You can’t judge a book by its cover I suppose…   His monster serve…Tsonga’s forehand is like a laser when he hits really hard… Tsonga’s casual backhand…Simple yet strong…His backhand was said to be his safety shot by commentators,Jim Courier whom I saw walking around and also Hewitt’s ex-coach,Roger Rasheed…  Photo of the week, The noobest ball kid I’ve seen…haha…Remember him Chin Wei?? Had a good laugh at him…He kept making mistakes when rolling the ball and the style of him rolling the ball is as if he’s playing bowling…seriously hilarious… So,for the second week of the first grand slam of the year, the crowd kinda died a bit as there were not many players playing on the show courts but for the final day, Melbourne Park was overflowed with people…Simply because, it’s the final day and also, the Veronica Sisters were at Melbourne Park for a performance…sadly,to be continued………………..Final part for my Aus Open post….The final two days of the Open….

Australian Open ‘08…..long overdue…

February 17, 2008 · 5 Comments

Australian Open 2008 commenced on the 14th of January 2008,a Monday..So I was damn bloody excited about it ; hoping to see tennis stars like Federer,Nadal, Sharapova and others – not that serb, jokovic…However,I did see him at the practice court…At least a hundred of fans wanted his signature…I could have him sign my book but I was kinda nervous because I couldn’t find his page in the Official Program…So,on the eve of Oz Open,I asked Chin Wei to join me and he did..I bought him a ground pass for the first day for $29 but mine was a five day ground pass which costed me $99…On the eve of Oz Open, around 10pm,Chin Wei came from Glen Waverley to the city by train..I met him at the station and went back to my sis’s apartment..Chin Wei and I prepared our food and other stuff…Cooked some really yucky tuna with some japanese curry paste…I ate all of it in the end on the first day of Oz Open..So,on the first day,we took a free shuttle tram to Melbourne Park in which situated the tennis centre that consist of Rod Laver Arena,Vadafone Arena,Margaret Court Arena and like another 25  courts…I…We reached there around 8.15 in the morning and there was already a queue…Here are some photos of Day 1….  Where the world comes to play…the freaking long queue ……hmmm…should have seen this notice earlier…………..four cans of tuna…………………gone! police officers…. a couple of musicians entertaining us…… first tennis star that I saw….Mr. Dmitry Tursonov….his serve is a monster……………..Big Head and I went to Margaret Court Arena  as Tommy Robredo was playing first…He played against some unknown German player but the german guy was pretty good… having solid gorundstrokes and a serve and volley game which was pretty effective against Tommy…The match went to the deciding set and the time of play was a little over four hours…Chin Wei and I watched the entire match…The match started at 11 am and ended around 3 pm…After that,I was pretty tired…The sun was scorching…….. Then ,I saw Amelie Mauresmo….She was warming up for her match which was after Robredo’s….Got her autograph btw…hehe  ahhhh….Don’t know what happened to Tommy…Didn’t play his best…Low first serve percentage and too many unforced errors…anyhow,in the end,he won.. after that long grueling match,Chin Wei and I left the arena and went to show court 2 to watch Davydenko…But before that, we went to eat and entered the Australian Open Shop,Nike Promo Shop,Wilson and other brands… the apparel of Federer and Nadal….  Federer’s shoes….Air Zoom Vapour 5……The shoe has his initials which is ‘RF’ ,and the three swiss flags which denotes the number of OZ Open titles he has won..
Nadal’s shoes…If I’m not mistaken, the left side of his shoe has a picture of a bull and the other side has his name ‘Rafa’…hmm…cool shoes…$200 a pair and the cheaper versions are at $120…  man….really like this bag….looks bloody cool….  People at Garden Square in Melbourne Parkz   Nikolay Davydenko…He is seriously skinny…  He’s not a flashy player…so,it wasn’t really that exciting…For some reason,on day one, there were many left handers playing…I saw at least 5 players.. Then,it was Carlos Moya’s turn to play…Night session begins at 7.00 pm…It’s really ironic…During the day,I complained that it was too hot and it really was but at night,it was freezing cold…. Moya…..  Inside out forehand.. well…Moya’s match ended around 11 pm…Kinda disappointing as he lost but Stefan Koubek was pretty impresive..oh ya…Chin Wei almost caught Moya’s wristband…almost…haha..Another girl was too quick for Chin Wei…hehe…hmmm…that was day one….  Donald Young,a promising American youth…  the effect of day 1…sunburnt….dang….forgot to button up my shirt…what a waste that I didn’t take a photo of Chin Wei’s face…His face was pink…damn funny… hmmm….didn’t go for day 2…I was just too tired.. well,to be continued………………………

i’m comin’ back….

February 8, 2008 · 3 Comments

My trip to Australia is coming to an end….I will be coming back to Sitiawan this Sunday morning around 10 o’clock….Well, for the first couple of weeks in Oz,I was active as in exploring the city, beach and so on…But for the following weeks,I was just lazing around :waking up at noon, watching dvds the whole day , taking frequent naps….It was pretty bored after two weeks being here but luckily, the Grand Slam of Asia/Pacific ,Australian Open started…Gonna blog about this soon I guess…It was so unreal to see tennis being played at such high standard….Saw many tennis players like Federer,Nadal,Mauresmo,Kunetszova,Blake,Moya ,Fererer and many more…I even got like 20 plus signatures from the players…I even caught a towel used by the players..Dont worry,it was a fresh towel and not a smelly and disgusting one..So ,I was pretty happy about catching a towel..I think it was Alu Jones(Aus) that threw the towel…Thanks a lot man,you made my day!la la la……….Ordered my MacBook Pro on the 12th of January, and after a really long wait,I finally received it on the 5th of February…dang, that was like 4 weeks……………………..at least it came safely…had an issue on my Apple Care Protection Plan but it was sorted out…No problems…Anyways, happy CNY…
